Kenya and the United Arab Emirates are planning to deepen their bilateral relationship.

Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Defence, stated on Saturday that the two countries will sign 12 agreements.

"Our two countries are in different phases of finalising twelve additional instruments." "I feel pleased that significant progress has been recently made in finalising agreements on these important instruments," he remarked on Saturday.

Already, 14 memorandums of understanding have been inked between the countries on topics such as promotion, investment protection, and labour cooperation, among others.

The CS was giving a speech in Nairobi at the United Arab Emirates' 52nd anniversary of independence.

I convey our sincere congratulations from the Government and the citizens of the Republic of Kenya to the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates," he went on to say.

Since achieving independence 52 years ago, the UAE has sought to develop their country into one of the most industrious and successful nations in the world, according to the CS.

Duale claimed that the UAE is an essential and important partner for Kenya, and that the two nations collaborate on numerous levels and in a wide range of fields such as education, trade, labour, tourism, sports, and transportation.

"Both Kenya and the UAE have made periodic official and high-level visits." "This is a clear demonstration of the power and significance of our two countries' connection," he continued.

Furthermore, the CS stated that Kenya and the UAE have prospects for strategic alliances in renewable energy, telecommunications, and agriculture.

"I believe that Kenya and the United Arab Emirates will use the current system of the Kenya -UAE Joint Commission for Cooperation to examine in greater detail, the most practical steps needed for expanding this cooperation," he stated.

Furthermore, the CS noted that Kenya was anticipating forward to the Kenya-UAE Joint Commission for Cooperation convening in the UAE at a period that was beneficial to both nations.

"We become aware the forum will give momentum to the valuable cooperation that exists among our two countries," she added.

President William Ruto stated in June that Kenya is going to collaborate with the United Arab Emirates to ensure the success of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

He addressed at State House, where he met Sultan Al-Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Cooperatives.

Al-Jaber is also the COP28 President-elect.

"We are committed to working hand in hand to make sure Cop28 and the African Climate Action Summit will result in real and tangible benefits for the climate as well as the citizens of Africa, and the world," the president added.

Ruto and Al-Jaber both expressed hope that COP 28 will be a watershed moment in climate action.

"We will work cooperatively to achieve the highest possible goal across every climate pillar at Cop28," the president stated.
